The Baseline Player of the Week: Anett Kontaveit

Estonia's top player is stepping into the spotlight. Anett Kontaveit has won one WTA title in her career, last year in 's-Hertogenbosch. She was close to adding to that total these past few weeks by reaching the semifinals in both Stuttgart and Rome.

Kontaveit also reached the round of 16 in Madrid. The 22-year-old has scored some impressive wins over her successful stretch on clay, including over Venus Williams (twice), Caroline Wozniacki, CoCo Vandeweghe, Svetlana Kuznetsova and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.

While she was defeated by eventual champion Elina Svitolina in the semifinals of Rome, Kontaveit reached a career-high ranking of No. 25.
