Fans were in for a treat on Monday in Rome when Maria Sharapova and Rafael Nadal hit together for a few minutes in between their practice sessions at the Internazionali BNL d’Italia.

Nadal is entering the Rome draw after a 21-match (50-set) win streak ended in the quarterfinals of Madrid to Dominic Thiem. Sharapova's quarterfinal run in Madrid was her best performance since January.

Between the two of them, they've won 21 Grand Slam crowns and 134 titles. Sharapova is a three-time winner in Rome, while Nadal has won seven times.

Pam Shriver approved of the ATP and WTA stars joining forces.

Sharapova begins her Rome campaign against Ashleigh Barty while Nadal will face either countryman Fernando Verdasco or Damir Dzumhur.
