While Rafael Nadal just set the record for most sets won consecutively on any surface with 50 in Madrid, Roger Federer is far away in Dubai.

The Swiss, who often trains in the United Arab Emirates, was on hand to help Rolex open its biggest boutique store at The Dubai Mall.

Federer is a brand ambassador for the luxury watch company, along with fellow players Grigor Dimitrov, Milos Raonic, Garbine Muguruza, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Angelique Kerber, Dominic Thiem and Caroline Wozniacki.

The 20-time Grand Slam champion opted to skip the clay season for the second year in a row, leaving Nadal free to dismantle his opponents one by one on dirt. The Spaniard is currently riding a 21-match winning streak and is the clear favorite to win Madrid.

But Federer doesn't seem concerned. Skipping the clay season worked well for him last year, and he's made it no secret he's prioritizing the grass season.

He does seem to be at least somewhat inspired by Nadal's streak though, as he sported a sleeveless shirt—a rarity in the 36-year-old's wardrobe. It's also often over 100 degrees in Dubai this time of year.

Federer is expected to start his grass-court season in June in Stuttgart.
