On Sunday, Karolina Pliskova secured her 10th WTA title— her first of the year—by defeating Coco Vandeweghe, 7-6, 6-4 in Stuttgart. The world No. 6 fired 11 aces behind her powerful groundstrokes to overwhelm the American.

There was some drama at the beginning of the second set when Vandeweghe took a medical timeout after falling and injuring her hand. This was Vandeweghe's first career clay-court final and she was left in tears after losing.
