John Isner penned a moving essay for the ATP about his mother's fight with colon cancer when he was a freshman in college. He talks about everything from finding out the bad news while he was at the University of Georgia to her full recovery years later thanks to the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Isner also talks about how his mom was always there for him, on and off the court, and how she continues to inspire him.

"When I think about whining about the heat or about what time I'm scheduled to play, one thought about the courage Mom has shown over the years places everything in perspective," he writes.

Isner is holding a raffle benefitting the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. The winner will get a VIP trip to Wimbledon.
