"They basically begged me to do the dance. I didn't want to. I said no, but they announced it anyway. It's not that I was trying to dance."

So said Venus Williams in the pressroom after her straight-sets victory over Natalia Vikhlyantseva, her second 20-year-old Russian opponent in as many weeks after a three-set semifinal in Indian Wells against Daria Kasatkina. Despite her initial disregard for the opportunity, the on-court announcer and then the pumped-in Justin Timberlake dad-pop track wouldn't take no for an answer:

As with her post-match poses struck after a defeat of another relative upstart, Coco Vandeweghe, in their 2017 Australian Open semifinal (among other public reveals), Venus showed off stylishly lackadaisical moves that many would envy.

"I love dancing, but I just want to focus on the tennis on the court," Venus also told the media, when prompted, after her latest victory.

She's into the quarterfinals with hard-fought victories over Kiki Bertens and defending champion Johanna Konta.
