Serena Williams was dealt a tough draw at the Miami Open, falling right away to Indian Wells champion Naomi Osaka. There was no shame in losing to the hottest hand on the WTA but Williams did something uncharacteristic: she walked right out of the stadium and headed home.

In only her second tour event back in 14 months, the new mom skipped her press conference following the 6-3, 6-2 loss to the world No. 22.

The eight-time Miami Open champion released a brief statement following the match, congratulating her 20- year-old opponent (who would lose her next match to Elina Svitolina) and vowing to continue her comeback.

Since Williams was unranked entering the tournament, the WTA fined her $1,000 as it was her first offense in 2018.

Despite the unusual behavior, she has displayed incredible strength and determination to return to the court in such short time.
