With Serena Williams coming back last week after 14 months away, she, and everyone watching, were taking it one match at a time. But, after two straight-set wins at Indian Wells, a highly-anticipated and hoped-for showdown is happening.

The 36-year-old will battle against her older sister Venus on Monday night for a spot in the fourth round. After her second round win over Kiki Bertens, Serena said she "would prefer to play someone else, anybody else, literally anybody else, but it has to happen now. So it is what it is."

It will be their 29th match against each other, but first ever at the BNP Paribas Open. The last time the two faced off was in the 2017 Australian Open final where Serena won her 23rd Grand Slam title. That was also Serena's last match before stepping away to give birth to her daughter in September.

Currently unseeded in Indian Wells, Serena has beaten her world No. 8-ranked sister 17 of the last 28 times.
