American Frances Tiafoe had the week of his young career in Delray Beach, beating two fellow young stars, his boyhood idol and more en route to his first ATP title.

In the first two rounds, Tiafoe, a wildcard entry, avenged two of his January losses with three-set wins over Matthew Ebden and Juan Martin del Potro.

In the quarterfinals, he faced Australian Open semifinalist Hyeon Chung. The match had to be completed over two days due to rain, but Tiafoe managed to survive in three sets (despite some theatrics).

Then came the semifinal versus Denis Shapovalov. Tiafoe pulled off the victory in more straightforward fashion, 7-5, 6-4.

In the final on Sunday, the result was never in doubt, as Tiafoe led unseeded Peter Gojowczyk from start to finish.
