The funny thing is that the 20-year-old proceeded to take the contest over world No. 30 Chung (though it took him two days).

In the semifinals, he moved past fellow up-and-comer Denis Shapovalov by a decisive 7-5, 6-4 count. On Sunday, Tiafoe took out surprise finalist Peter Gojowczyk for the Delray Beach title, becoming the first player born in 1998 to win an ATP crown.
