It's obvious at this point that Roger Federer knows his fans obsession over his bromance with Rafael Nadal. He seems to enjoy fueling the fire.

At a press conference in Rotterdam, he fanned the flames of fan fiction when he found out that the Spaniard was in the Netherlands doing appearances for his foundation.

"He should come over just like to hang out," Federer said. "I'm pretty lonely. My family isn't here."

Despite the good-humored jokes, Federer was pretty focused on taking the world No. 1 spot from Nadal. Speaking ahead of his quarterfinal match against Robin Haase, he said that he isn't "here to go look at the tulips."

In the semifinals, the 36-year-old would take out Haase to become the oldest No. 1 in ATP history. Not satisfied just yet, the Swiss then dismissed Grigor Dimitrov in the final to win his 97th career title.
