DOHA – The Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang have captured the hearts and minds of everyone all over the globe—even all the way in warm, sunny Qatar. Here's a rundown of what winter sports the players would like to try if they had gone the snowy route instead:

1

Caroline Wozniacki — Curling

"I used to ski all the time. So I'm a pretty decent skier and snowboarder. But no way I could be an Olympic skier because at this point I'm a little bit too nervous when it goes too quickly. If there was a sport, it would probably be curling because Denmark I think one of the only Olympic medals we've ever won is curling."

2

Dominka Cibulkova — Skiing

"Just to try. Ski for sure. The regular like downhill. Not the crazy one that you go crazy fast like Lindsey Vonn. Not that one. But like a slope. This one I could try."

3

Madison Keys — Snowboarding

"I wish I could snowboard. I've never attempted it. I skied when I was really little, but I haven't done it since. But I desperately wish that I could snowboard. And the day that I retire I'm going to go find some snow and like strap myself into a snowboard and probably eat it 15 times. But I just want to be like really cool. They all seem super cool and down to earth and just want to be like, 'Sup, guys.'"

4

Petra Kvitova — Curling

"I was thinking about which one I can do in the winter Olympic. I don't like winter that much. Well, hockey, I'm not sure. Maybe curling. Yeah. Why not? That can be good. I can be like the cleaner one."

5

Julia Goerges — Biathlon

"Biathlon. It started when I was a kid. Magdalena Forsberg, a Swedish girl, she was dominating biathlon at that time, and I was always wondering why she's carrying the gun on her back. And I thought it was quite exciting because the actual skiing I'm not that big fan of it, but with the shooting, I think it's a pretty big thing to control your pulse there and really slow down and get into it."

Caroline Garcia — Maybe biathlon?

"For me it's very difficult because I think I ski once in my life. So it's difficult to see myself as a winter person. But there is some nice combination. Always to kind of combine different disciplines together."

7

Karolina Pliskova — Pass

"And there is not even one which I like, maybe like to watch only but not to compete because I'm not a winter person and I don't like winter. And I don't ski. I cannot do anything on ice and snow. So nothing there for me. I tried once skiing and didn't end up good."

8

Garbine Muguruza — Hard pass

"I like when they jump with the skis. That's cool. But I don't understand really the goal. But like the rules and stuff. But no. It's tough for me to see all these winter sports."

Now back to tennis. In the Doha final, Kvitova took out Muguruza in three sets. The victory was Kvitova's 13th in a row and pushed her back into the Top 10 for the first time since June 2016.

What Olympic sport would the pros choose?
