Six months after suffering a horrific knee injury at Wimbledon, Bethanie Mattek-Sands announced her comeback plan on Facebook Live.

“Right now, I am planning on having my doubles comeback at Indian Wells with Lucie [Safarova]," she said. "We’re getting the band back together, Team Bucie."

That doubles team was the best in the business for a couple of years. In fact, a “Bucie Slam” was in play last year at Wimbledon. The duo had captured the three prior majors and the hearts of fans around the world with their general joie de vivre.

Their momentum was halted as Mattek-Sands fell in the second round, having to retire from her singles match against Sorana Cirstea after her knee crumpled on her with a torn patellar tendon.

She hasn’t wallowed in her time off, following through on an intense workout plan. She’s also been dabbling in television coverage of the sport. But now, she’s raring to get in front of the cameras on court instead.

“I’m excited for my first tournament back,” Mattek-Sands said in her video. “As much as I like to train and practice, I love game time.”
