It seems an open secret that Simona Halep has sewed up an important new sponsorship.

Ranked No. 1 and carving out her way to the Australian Open last month, the Romanian yet lacked a clothing endorsement. That appears to have changed, based on the interesting rollout, via coach Darren Cahill's Twitter posts, of her new Nike partnership.

Halep first remained coy about the budding relationship with the Swoosh on her own social media channels, instead opting to update followers about her health (she missed Fed Cup action post-Melbourne due to injury) and her recent ceremonial opportunity at a Europe Cup basketball game.

Meanwhile, Cahill was doubling down on Twitter.

The news arrived around the same time that a new survey conducted with 1,200 Romanians revealed that Halep is considered the country's best athlete.

The world No. 1 eventually cracked, posting a clever message:
