Last week, Julia Goerges made a run to the semifinals of St. Petersburg, propelling her ranking inside the Top 10 for the very first time in her career.

The five-time WTA champion won Auckland this season, as well as Moscow and the year-end championships in Zhuhai last fall. In past six months, the German has scored wins over Caroline Wozniacki, Kristina Mladenovic, CoCo Vandeweghe and Anasasija Sevastova.

The 29-year-old finished the 2017 season at No. 14, one year after wrapping up 2016 just outside of the Top 50.
