Nadal, Muguruza win Mundo Deportivo best athletes of the year

Garbine Muguruza and Rafael Nadal added more trophies to their collections by winning best athletes of the year 2017 at the 70th Gala of Mundo Deportivo in Barcelona.

Last September both occupied the No. 1 spot, marking the first time countrymen shared that top rank since 2003. Muguruza has since dropped to No. 4 while Nadal is hanging onto his throne by tooth and nail.

Nadal is the most decorated athlete at the gala, having won the best athlete award four times.
