Eugenie Bouchard went on another date with University of Missouri student John Goehrke. If you don't recall, he's the Twitter follower she made the Super Bowl bet with last year, but this time their date was to the actual Super Bowl (courtesy of NFL Canada).
Bouchard and her date, marketing major Goehrke, revealed in a Q&A that they'd be rooting for the Patriots, as it was New England's 2017 comeback that brought them together in the first place.
Though there wasn't a bet this time around, they each predicted before that game that the Patriots would win. The Eagles won 41-33.
Though they both wanted to see another comeback, it wasn't in the cards on Sunday.
As for what the future holds, Goehrke hopes to see Bouchard play in 2018.
One way to do that could be in Montreal, as it's the WTA's turn to play there this year.
What a difference a year makes, indeed.
Bouchard made it just in time for the viral date. She reached the quarterfinals in Taipei, but lost to world No. 152-ranked Wang Yafan on Friday. It marked her first quarterfinal appearance since May.
