Doubles Take previews the women's finals and the mixed doubles semis, plus looks back at yesterday's action.

"Colombian Power," aka Robert Farah and Juan Sebastian Cabal, has been one of the most consistent teams on the ATP World Tour the past few years, but only had one Grand Slam semifinal to their credit before this year's Australian Open.

Now, they've gone a step further.

Cabal and Farah knocked off six-time Australian Open champions Bob and Mike Bryan in straight sets. They'll face Mate Pavic and Oliver Marach in the final as the seventh seeds barely got through their semi against Ben Mclachlan and Jan-Lennard Struff.

The tournament's definitely winding down. Here's a look at Friday's women's final and the mixed doubles semifinals.

(2) Ekaterina Makarova/Elena Vesnina vs. (5) Timea Babos/Kristina Mladenovic:

Babos and Mladenovic couldn’t ask for a better start to their new partnership, reaching their first Grand Slam final together. They’re facing a team in the final that’s been one of the best of their generation. Makarova and Vesnina have won three of the four Grand Slams, an Olympic gold medal, Fed Cup and the WTA Finals. The only major title missing from their collection is the Australian Open. The 2014 Melbourne finalists have history in their sights and are in good position to claim victory.

(3) Ekaterina Makarova/Bruno Soares vs. (8) Gabriela Dabrowski/Mate Pavic:

Makarova and Soares have Edouard Roger-Vasselin and Andrea Hlavackova to thank for their position in the semis. Up match point in the quarterfinals, Roger-Vasselin and Hlavackova had an epic case of miscommunication, which caused them to lose the point and soon, the match. They’re more experienced than their semifinal opponents, but Dabrowski did win her first mixed Slam title last year and Pavic has only known victory in 2018. This one could—and should—go the distance.

Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez/Marcelo Demoliner vs. Timea Babos/Rohan Bopanna:

Makarova isn’t the only player doing double doubles duty today as Babos and Bopanna take on Martinez Sanchez and Demoliner. Babos is having a noteworthy tournament in every discipline this year (she upset CoCo Vandeweghe in singles) and Bopanna has playing at his usual consistent level. Martinez Sanchez and Demoliner have had a good run, but Babos and Bopanna might present too much of a challenge.
