Serena Williams is officially scheduled to play her first competitive match since the 2017 Australian Open. She will represent the United States' Fed Cup team in Asheville, N.C. on Feb. 10-11 against The Netherlands.

Joining her will be Venus Williams, CoCo Vandeweghe and one more player still to be announced.

The selection begs the question of whether the Williams sisters are aiming to play in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, as Fed Cup participation is a requirement for competing.

Of course, Serena fans are excited about the good news.

The only other high-profile match Williams has played since her maternity leave was an exhibition in Abu Dhabi in December, in which she lost to Jelena Ostapenko in a super tiebreak.

The tie will be the first round of U.S. team's title defense after winning the tournament last year.
