MELBOURNE — Day 3 at the Australian Open was chaos at its finest with two veterans making improbably comebacks, and a young, new face making a name for herself.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga looked ready to pack his bags with Denis Shapovalov up 5-2 in the fifth set, while Caroline Wozniacki was facing a 5-1 and match point deficit against Jana Fett. Both would emerge victorious.

While experience won out for those two, a budding new star named Marta Kostyuk has made a dream come true on a qualifying wildcard. The 2017 junior Australian Open champion set up an all-Ukrainian third-round showdown with No. 4 seed Elina Svitolina.
