WATCH: Thiem hits tweener in best shot of the Slam (so far)

Dominic Thiem, a player often known for quietly getting the job done, showed some major flashiness in his Australian Open first round. The No. 5 seed hit a perfect tweener winner down the line for an early Shot of the Slam contender.

The Austrian was impressive all-around in his opening round match, dispatching Guido Pella 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 on Day 2.

One player who's no stranger to making the tweener highlight reels, Roger Federer, was wowed by the 24-year-old.

Thiem cracked a whopping 48 winners over three sets to book his spot in the second round. He will return to the court on Thursday to face one of the few American men remaining in the draw, Denis Kudla.
