Andy Murray's injury woes continue, as he recently shared in a touching social media post addressing his fans. "I wanted to keep everyone in the loop and get this off my chest as it's really hurting inside," Murray wrote.

Since his announcement that he will miss this month's Australian Open, where he is a five-time finalist, TV talking heads and many more observers, including fans, have weighed in on his health matters.

His understandably angsty mum, Judy Murray, shot from the hip, particularly bristling at statements on Murray's health outlook made by the likes of compatriots, including former touring pros such as Andrew Castle.

Goldie Sayers, a retired British field athlete who once flung the javelin for a homegrown-record 213-plus feet, tossed out her own take in response. And her message landed sharply: Health outcomes, and how the body will respond to surgery and treatment, are often difficult to predict.

Murray would end up opting for surgery with hopes of returning to full health. He has not played a pro match since his Wimbledon quarterfinal ouster last summer. Even so, based on the resurgences of some of his ATP and WTA peers in recent years, it remains best not to count Murray out. It's also best to take him at his word: He is trying his damnedest to get healthy and back in action.
