Perth fans mistake Naomi Osaka for Nick Kyrgios

This young new year of 2018 has already seen a few instant-classic moments. From Denis Shapovalov and Madison Keys having fun with an all-out butchering of the former's name to Jamie Murray taking a lighthearted dig at fans thinking he was Fernando Verdasco, the chortle-inducing posts are plentiful.

Enter Naomi Osaka and Nick Kyrgios.

With a great head of dark curls, as seen at the Hopman Cup this week, it's easy to see how Osaka might be taken for Serena Williams from behind, when carrying her racquet bag. As with Murray, she got a jolt this week, though, when young onlookers took a comparison to the next level:

The 20-year-old Osaka, ranked No. 68 in the world, polished off her campaign at the Hopman team exhibition in Perth with a three-set victory over No. 15 Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.
