Lleyton Hewitt is coming out of retirement, for the third time. At next month's Australian Open, the 36-year-old will take to the court for doubles with Sam Groth.

“It’s going to be a bit of fun. That’s what the Australian Open is about. It's the Happy Slam," Hewitt said. "I’m going to really enjoy it."

Hewitt retired after the 2016 Australian Open but returned briefly to play doubles in Davis Cup and at Wimbledon. He did not play a competitive match in 2017 but was the Australian Davis Cup captain.

Groth announced recently that the Australian Open will be his final tournament. The pair actually played doubles together in Hewitt's then-final Australian Open two years ago, reaching the round of 16.

"We’ve been hitting a lot of balls, hitting every day, and we’re not just going out there to make up the numbers," Groth said. "We want to give it a fair crack.”
