In a season full of contenders, one in particular from Pablo Cuev

While Diego Schwartzman came in at No. 1 on the countdown of hot shots from 2017, Baseline could't help but give Pablo Cuevas special recognition.

…to Schwartzman’s behind-the-back brilliance in November…

...the 2017 season was full of hot shots on both the ATP and WTA tours.

In Miami, the women put on a shot-making display:

And no story that mentions “hot shots” should go without something from Dustin Brown:

However, one shot tops them all:

In a quarterfinal match in Madrid,  Alexander Zverev took on veteran Pablo Cuevas and captured the first set. Early in the second, a cat-and-mouse point ended with the no-looking winner of the year.

Cuevas would rally to defeat Zverev, and reach the first ATP Masters 1000 semi of his career. It was a career milestone that was made all the more memorable by a shot for the ages.
