Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian got married in New Orleans this week, and, yes, there are pictures, courtesy of Vogue.
The event looked and sounded a lot like Beauty and the Beast, Vogue reported, with French-ball decor and a dance to "Tale as Old as Time."
“You are the greatest of all time, not just in sport. I’m talking about as a mother, and as a wife. I am so excited to write so many more chapters of our fairy tale together.” Congratulations to @serenawilliams and @alexisohanian, who exchanged vows last night. "My whole life I didn’t even realize it, but I was waiting for this moment," Ohanian said during his vows. "And everything that I have done, everything that I am so proud of in my career, and in my life, for the last 34 years, pales in comparison to what we’re doing today. And I am so grateful, and I am so in love.”
Serena's dress was designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, and, combined with her bouquet, is worth $3.5 million.
She also wore two subsequent Versace dresses, you know, because she's Serena Williams. For some of the dancing, she wore bejeweled Nike sneakers.
After tying the knot with @alexisohanian last night, @serenawilliams debuted her second dress of the evening, a dramatic beaded, feathered @versace_official moment that made her look like a fashion-forward superwoman. Venus Williams, Beyoncé, Kim Kardashian West, Anna Wintour and Caroline Wozniacki were all there, along with many more celebs and singers, but, most importantly, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. also attended.
Of course, tennis had to be incorporated somehow. Guests were given their own Grand Slam trophies as party favors and tables were named after her Grand Slam wins.
Serena is the GOAT! Her wedding party favors were small replicas of her different tennis trophies. pic.twitter.com/zQb5qvK8J1— Ms. Thames (@JaneeThames) November 18, 2017
The afterparty included a full-sized carousel, and the whole event was meant to feel like a modern ball. Fans of Serena's loved what they saw, obviously.
