Jack Sock is making good on his ATP Finals debut. He vanquished world No. 3 Alexander Zverev 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 to clinch the second semifinal spot on Thursday. He's the first American to make it this far since Andy Roddick in 2007.

Fed-Ex returns to sender

Federer closed out a winless Marin Cilic 6-7 (5), 6-4, 6-1. The Swiss' smooth return has won countless points over the decades, but he can still glide in the air like he should be the star of Space Jam 2.

Doubles or a game of Pong?

This doubles display of overheads and backboard lobs looked like a three-dimensional version of Atari Pong. Eventually, Ryan Harrison and Michael Venus finished it off with a simple volley. They are also undefeated in three matches after this win over Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau.

Self defense from Sock

It's obvious Sock is a powerful player but he's also graceful athlete around the net. Zverev checked his reflexes on this close blast but the American deftly turned it inside out.

Metaphor for the match

Early in this point, Zverev actually fell down, but picked himself up and got back into the point. Just when it seemed he had control, Sock flipped a forehand past him for the impressive winner.
