Nothing like a duel between two of the tallest and most powerful players on tour to get your blood pumping. Juan Martin del Potro, who needed just one more win to make it to the ATP Finals in London, put it all out there on Friday against John Isner. That meant nearly taking the American out at the net.

Del Potro also showed off his football skills—he's Argentinian after all.

Isner would win the dramatic encounter, 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-4, dashing Del Potro's hopes of playing in the ATP Finals.

The loss means Pablo Carreno Busta will likely get the final spot. World No. 1 Rafael Nadal is a question mark for London after pulling out of Paris with a knee injury, but Del Potro has plans to head home instead of waiting around to be an alternate.
