CiCi Bellis ended the 2016 season as the youngest face inside the WTA Top 100. After an injury slowed her season's start, she only went upwards in 2017. In her second tournament, she reached her first Premier-5 level quarterfinal in Dubai with a win over Agnieszka Radwanska.

She also appeared in her first Premier semifinal at Stanford, with a straight-set win over Petra Kvitova. In Toronto, the 18-year-old scored her second Top 10 win of the year by stunning Svetlana Kuznetsova. The American reached a career-high of No. 35 in August.

Bellis is currently on a five-match losing streak, but there's no doubt that the world No. 44 will be able to start 2018 off on the right foot.
