Mladenovic keeps slumping as losing streak reaches 10

The world No. 13 hasn't won a match since Washington, back in Jul

Despite being ranked No. 13 in the world, Kristina Mladenovic is experiencing a dramatic nosedive. The Frenchwoman enjoyed a stellar 2017 season before hitting a wall—she hasn't won a match since Washington in July.

Her ten-match losing streak includes a first-round loss at the US Open and a 6-0, 6-0 bewildering loss to Qiang Wang in Tokyo. This week in Moscow, Mladenovic was the top seed but sputtered out to Aliaksandra Sasnovich, 6-2, 2-6, 6-2.

It marked the first set Mladenovic has won since Washington (where she lost in the second round to Bianca Andreescu).

Regardless of the surprising loss of form, this season is the 24-year-old's best ever. After finishing the 2016 season at No. 42, she won in St. Petersburg, reached the final of Acapulco, Stuttgart and Madrid, the semifinals of Indian Wells and the quarterfinals of the French Open.

Even with this rough patch, Mladenovic is expected to crack the Top 10 when the rankings come out next week. She's also the first alternate for the WTA Finals in Singapore.
