Kei Nishikori took to the court for a hitting session, testing out a right wrist injury that ended his 2017 season early. He has been recovering from a torn tendon, but was fit enough for orange balls (the softest of the under-10 junior tennis balls).

The Japanese star heard heard a "pop" in his wrist during practice in Cincinnati, and was forced to miss the US Open.

He chose the Clijsters Academy in Belgium as his training center of choice.

All five of the 2016 year-end Top 5 wrapped up their 2017 seasons early with injuries (Andy Murray, Novak Djokovic, Milos Raonic, Stan Wawrinka and Nishikori). Nishikori's ranking is down to No. 15.
