Dominic Thiem has struggled with opening losses on the Asian tour this year. At least the Austrian was able to get some good news when he qualified for the second consecutive year to London’s ATP Finals.

“I am very proud to have qualified again this year,” said Thiem in ATP World Tour. “It is not easy to qualify once but even more so to repeat the following year. I look forward to competing with the best players in the world at The O2.”

Thiem is No. 4 in the Race to London with 3725 points. The past two years he has been a workhorse, and perhaps too many matches have burned him out by late summer and fall.

Maybe a little rest and a good charge at Paris will get Thiem ready for London. Last year he defeated Gael Monfils and took a set off Novak Djokovic in the round-robin matches in group play. He’s certainly capable of being a big-time player when his legs are fresh and his confidence is high.
