Juan Martin del Potro moved into the Shanghai semifinals on Friday, but it came at a price. During his 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 win over Viktor Troicki, the tall Argentine fell hard onto his left wrist in the third set. He went to the hospital after the match to get his wrist checked out.

If you remember, Del Potro missed two seasons with a left wrist injury that needed to be surgically repaired (multiple times).

He returned in 2016, but the comeback has been slow with many stops and starts as he's risen up to No. 23 in the rankings.

Until the fall on Friday, the 2017 season has been far healthier for the 29-year-old. At the US Open, he reached his first major semifinal since 2013, upsetting Roger Federer in the quarterfinals.

If his wrist is OK, he'll get a rematch with the Swiss in the Shanghai on Saturday.
