Over the years, Rafael Nadal’s experienced his fair share of success in the weeks following the US Open, with his most recent title coming at last week's China Open. Here’s a look at five of his best performances in Asia:

1

2008 Olympics, Beijing (champion)

A four-time Davis Cup champion, Nadal’s summoned some of his best tennis when representing Spain. In the 2008 Olympic Gold Medal match in Beijing, that was true once again as he claimed first place in the tournament with a victory over Fernando Gonzalez of Chile.

2

2009 Shanghai Open (finalist)

In the tournament’s first year being hosted in Shanghai, top-seeded Nadal reached his fifth ATP Masters 1000 final of the year. In the championship match, he lost to Nikolay Davydenko in straight sets.

2005 China Open (champion)

In Nadal's breakout campaign that saw him win 12 tournaments in the year, title No. 11 came at the China Open, with a three-set victory over Guillermo Goria. It was the third final the two had played against each other in 2005, with Nadal being pushed to the limit in all three before coming out on top.

4

2010 Japan Open (champion)

In perhaps one of the most dominant seasons of his career—which saw him snag three Grand Slam titles, including his first US Open title—Nadal won his seventh title of the year at the Japan Open, beating Gael Monfils in straight sets.

2017 China Open (champion)

Nadal was pushed to the brink in the first round against Lucas Pouille, fighting back from match point down. From there, he settled into a nice groove as he beat John Isner in the quarterfinals and Grigor Dimitrov in the semifinals. In the final, he overwhelmed Nick Kyrgios, 6-2, 6-1, to take his sixth title of the season.
