From junior Wimbledon winner to women’s French Open champion in three years, Jelena Ostapenko has experienced success at a rapid pace.

Now comes another huge milestone as she becomes the seventh player to qualify for the WTA Finals in Singapore.

“I’m extremely happy to qualify for my very first WTA Finals,” Ostapenko told the WTA. “I’ve had a great season and hope I can continue to play my best tennis in front of all the fans in Singapore.”

After reaching her first final of the year in Charleston on clay, the 20-year-old Latvian’s next appearance in a championship match was a big one. Ostapenko reached the final at Roland Garros, with wins over Caroline Wozniacki and Samantha Stosur along the way. She defeated Simona Halep in three sets for her first-ever title.

In her next Grand Slam tournament, at Wimbledon, Ostapenko reached the quarterfinals. Her hard-court preparation leading up to the US Open didn’t go as planned, and she only advanced to the third round in New York. Afterward, though, Ostapenko made her debut in the Top 10 of the rankings.

She’s now No. 8 in the world after taking the title in Seoul and following that up with a semifinal run at the Wuhan Open. This week, she's into the Beijing quarterfinals where she faces doubles partner Sorana Cirstea.

Already in the field of the WTA Finals are Wimbledon champion Garbine Muguruza, French Open runner-up Halep, Karolina Pliskova, Elina Svitolina, Venus Williams and Wozniacki.
