Ashleigh Barty is enjoying the run of a lifetime in Wuhan, highlighted by an epic 4-6, 7-6 (3), 7-6 (2) win over world No. 3 Karolina Pliskova.

The match had its fair share of drama, including an act of sportsmanship from the young Aussie. Leading 5-3 in the third set, Barty conceded a point when a Pliskova serve at 40-30 was called out. Barty didn't even hesitate, even in such a critical moment of the marathon match.

Barty had three match points in the following game, but needed a tiebreaker to seal the upset. The win is Barty's first Top 5 victory and marks her first Premier-level semifinal.

Barty took the court again on Friday to upset French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko, 6-3, 6-0. These weeks are critical for the 21-year-old as she is hoping to secure a seeded spot at the Australian Open in January. She's currently ranked No. 37 but is projected to rise to at least No. 23.

Barty is also into the Wuhan doubles semifinals (with Casey Dellacqua). They are currently fourth in the race to Singapore.
