There's a Greek tennis player on the rise, and it's time you learned her name. Maria Sakkari just got the biggest scalp of her career by taking out Caroline Wozniacki in Wuhan.

It marks Sakkari's first Top-20 win. The world No. 6-ranked Wozniacki had just won her 26th career title in Tokyo a few days prior.

Sakkari only just cracked the Top 100 in 2016, and sits at career-high ranking of No. 80 this week. She's not really out of nowhere though, as she reached the third round of both the US Open, Wimbledon and Australian Open this year, as well as the quarterfinals of Bol and Nottingham.

Her straight-set win over Wozniacki on Tuesday is her fourth win in Wuhan as she had to battle through qualifying.

While Sakkari may be virtually unknown to most followers on tour, she's got a fan base in Greece, as well as plenty of endorsers—and she's even starred in some commercials.

She'll take on Elena Vesnina in the round of 16 on Wednesday.
