The Laver Cup is shaping up to be an incredible showdown of the best players in the world, weeks ahead of the ATP World Tour Finals in London. With Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer on the same team (Team Europe), everyone is asking the question: Will they play doubles together?

It would be quite the marquee performance. Nadal and Federer are joined on Team Europe by Dominic Thiem, Alexander Zverev, Marin Cilic and Tomas Berdych. The action begins Friday with three days of singles and doubles matches for a total of nine singles matches and three doubles.

Team Europe captain Bjorn Borg is all for putting the famous rivalry on the same side of the net.

And Nadal is open to it.

So is Federer.

"I've played a lot against Rafa on so many occasions, in big matches," Federer said. "I think in nine Grand Slam finals. Finally, to have him on my side it's a joy. We talked about playing doubles a long, long time ago. It never happened. Of course, I would love to share the side of the net this time around. We have to see how practice goes and then at the end Bjorn will take the ultimate decision."

There's no doubt fans would love to witness it.
