The Davis Cup final will take place November 24-26. Belgium is seeking its first-ever Davis Cup trophy.

Team Belgium never says die, and never gives up. Led by heroes David Goffin and Steve Darcis, they treated the home-country fans to an epic comeback by sweeping the reverse singles to book their spot in the final against France.

Fittingly, it was 2015 Davis Cup hero Darcis who touched off an unusual match point to clinch the team victory.

The No. 12-ranked Goffin defeated Australia’s leading man Nick Kyrgios in Sunday’s first match to level the tie. It was his first victory in four attempts against Kyrgios and he upped his Davis Cup record to a staggering 19-3 in singles play.

The win set up the 33-year-old Darcis to out-grind Jordan Thompson with all the intensity of a Thomas Muster on clay.

The No. 77-ranked Darcis was perhaps most famous for upsetting Rafael Nadal at Wimbledon in 2013, but he cited the 2015 Davis Cup semifinals as his greatest career achievement.

It’s no wonder that Darcis’ legend continues to grow with complimentary nicknames that show his feisty spirit and ability to pull off clutch plays.

This weekend's triumph for Darcis and Belgium is no less impressive. It gives them at shot at France who took out a Novak Djokovic-less Serbian team, 3-1.
