While Rafael Nadal won his third career US Open title, and second major of the year, his uncle, Toni Nadal was surprised with an award of his own. While taking pictures on the court after the match against Kevin Anderson, the Spaniard's uncle was given an honorary trophy. The award recognizes Uncle Toni's contributions as coach. This fortnight also marks Toni Nadal's last major coaching Rafael.

It's the first year that coaches have been given a trophy alongside their players in the history of the US Open. Kamau Murray, Sloane Stephens' coach, was awarded his own Tiffany's hardware after the Saturday women's final.

Just after the second set of the match, Toni Nadal gave his thoughts on his semi-retirement from coaching his nephew.
