Presenting your daily look at the doubles action at the US Open.

Since their reunion this year, Ashleigh Barty and Casey Dellacqua have picked up right where they left off. Barty—who stepped away from the WTA Tour to play professional cricket—and her fellow Aussie have won titles on every surface this season, and the 2013 US Open finalists were among the contenders for the title this year.

The dream finish to the Grand Slam season won’t happen as the number-six seeds were upset by Shuko Aoyama and Yang Zhaoxuan in three sets in the second round. Aoyama is at her best on hard courts, and won her fourth Washington title this summer. The win definitely punches a big hole in the draw.

Here’s a look at some of the matches to catch on what could be a long day at the tournament due to the weather.

Christopher Eubanks/Christian Harrison vs. Robin Haase/Matwe Middelkoop

For the second day in a row, an all-American doubles team will play on the tournament’s second-biggest court. This time, it’s Eubanks, who made a solid run at his hometown tournament in Atlanta this summer, and Harrison, who’s been on the rebound from a host of injuries that have threatened his career. They take on the team that knocked out the three seeds, Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut.

Yung-Jan Chan/Martina Hingis (2) vs. Kristina Mladenovic/Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (13)

The round of 16 is usually where things start to really heat up in a 64-team draw, and this match is no exception. Hingis and Chan’s quest for a first Slam together really gets started here. Throughout their matches this season, they’ve been pushed to the brink quite a few times and come out on top. This could be their first true test.

Timea Babos/Andrea Hlavackova (5) vs. Raquel Atawo/Sabine Lisicki

Since she and her longtime partner Abigail Spears split up before this year, Atawo has spent most of the season bouncing around from partner to partner. She and Jelena Ostapenko did win the title in Stuttgart on clay, but that’s been her only final of the season. She and Lisicki—who’s in the midst of a comeback from injury—posted a solid first-round win against Nicole Melichar and Anna Smith. They have the capability to make things difficult for the number-five seeds.
