Like a long call on the baseline, that baby is out.

Indeed, Serena Williams has birthed a baby girl. Just as she forecasted–among so many forecasts she has made in her life and career—she and fiancé Alexis Ohanian have spawned a little lady.

At the same time that news was making its way around the Twittersphere and surrounding territories, Venus Williams prepared to step out on court for her third-round match in New York. By a 6-3, 6-4 count, she promptly reached the fourth round at the US Open for the 15th time in her career.

Beforehand, she told ESPN's Pam Shriver that she was "super excited" and afterward, she just wanted to talk tennis:

To the surprise of none, Serena, the reigning queen of tennis and Ohanian, the co-founder of Reddit have brought together much more than sport and social media. Those are simply their day jobs, lest we soon forget, and these two exceedingly real people have produced new life. Imagine just for a minute their baby joy, and also the anticipation for and expectations on that child.

But for now, here's a look at the international response on social channels to Serena's Labor Day weekend surprise.

She still ain't sorry:

Coach Patrick Mouratoglou delivered a reverse-mullet response – party up front, business in the back.

Meanwhile, another from Serena's crew is busy helping out Houston post–Hurricane Harvey. Still, Serena has probably given this tome a read:

A host of other tennis-centric, tennis-adjacent, celebrity and/or reporters and publications have also issued kudos.

In moments like these, you realize just how wide Serena's sphere truly is. Her mark on society and culture is great–and her mark on this child will be even greater.
