Presenting your daily look at the doubles action at the US Open.

A busy first day at the US Open didn’t yield any major upsets across the men's, women's and mixed categories.

Nick Kyrgios and Matt Reid showed they will go all out for a point in their opening victory over Jan-Lennard Struff and Joao Sousa.

And there was a 6-0, 6-0 shellacking of the Americans Steve Johnson and Tommy Paul by the Italian team of Simone Bolelli and Fabio Fognini. That performance was yikes all around.

Here’s some matches to keep an eye out for today:

Yung-Jan Chan/Martina Hingis (2) vs. Yulia Putintseva/Arina Rodionova

In their first year playing together, Chan and Hingis have had nothing but success—except at the Grand Slam level, where they’ve failed to reach a final. This should be a nice, yet challenging, opener for the No. 2 seeds to get their feet wet.

Marcin Matkowski/Max Mirnyi vs. Taylor Fritz/Reilly Opelka

Between them, Matkowski and Mirnyi have 67 career doubles titles and have played in multiple year-end championships. Fritz and Opelka? Well… This is the ultimate in youth vs. experience. The young Americans should go out and enjoy the moment.

Julien Benneteau/Edouard Roger-Vasselin vs. Lukasz Kubot/Marcelo Melo (2)

You know how sometimes there’s an early-round match that makes you go, “This could’ve been a final a couple of years ago?” Put this one firmly in that category. Benneteau and Roger-Vasselin won the French Open in 2014 and were Wimbledon runner-ups last year. It’s a tough second-rounder for reigning Wimbledon champs Kubot and Melo.
