Most protein powder packages don’t employ much imagination when it comes to shakes—fruit, ice and water or milk is about as far as they go. Saddlebrook Resort chef Daniel Desmond’s protein shake incorporates hemp milk, an all-natural cereal and Greek yogurt for a more complex flavor and heightened nutritional benefits.
Serves: 1 (Makes two 10-ounce shakes)
• 1 cup hemp milk
• 2 tablespoons Qi'a cereal
• ½ cup Ezekiel or Kashi cereal
• cup Greek yogurt (partial fat or low-fat may be used)
• ½ cup protein power of your choice
• 3 to 4 ounces cold water
• 8 ice cubes
Put the milk, Qi'a, Ezekiel or Kashi cereal and yogurt in a blender and blend until they come
together in a paste. Add half of the protein powder and blend. Then add the rest of the protein powder. Put in the water and ice cubes and blend until the consistency of the shake is to your liking. Serve.
