British celebrities and famous types from around the globe have descended on the All England Club for some fetching, grass-court tennis.
While some human bastions of stage, screen and sport have given good face in the seats, others have regarded the action from some distance, weighing in with kudos to their favored players on Twitter.
Enter Johanna Konta, the pride of U2, Mick Jagger, Van Morrison, Ellie Goulding, Darcey Bussell and Olly Murs.
@JoKonta91 Jo, you did great. We're so proud of you and I'd like you to come as my guest to one of my gigs. Van— Van Morrison (@vanmorrison) July 13, 2017
That's a short-list who's who of British and Irish pop, rock and dance—no slouchers there. What's more, it seems Konta has an open invitation to rock out with a few fine folks, which she's accepting:
Thank you so much! I would love you to! https://t.co/uzMYxdE2CC— Johanna Konta (@JoKonta91) July 13, 2017
That's okay, I'll be seeing you guys a couple weeks later!!! https://t.co/HwFxGAXNUB— Johanna Konta (@JoKonta91) July 9, 2017
While Konta fell in her first Wimbledon semifinal appearance, dropping a straight-sets match to 37-year-old Venus Williams, the 26-year-old Brit may very well be back for more top-shelf fanfare such as this. Don't be surprised–and if she fares a step or two better at SW19 in the future, don't be shocked if her work reaps a tribute song.
