The ATP NextGen playing field has been rapidly expanding and the players (all 21 and under) are getting better by the day. One such young star is Russia's Daniil Medvedev, who defeated Steve Johnson in Eastbourne on Thursday.

The unseeded 21-year-old will now face the biggest challenge of his career, taking on Novak Djokovic in the semifinals.

After reaching the quarterfinals in 's-Hertogenbosch, Medvedev hit a career-high of No. 52 and hopes to only keep on rising. He followed that run, which was all the way from qualifying, with a quarterfinal finish at Queen's Club last week.

His third quarterfinal in as many tournaments, Medvedev is on a hot streak, but has yet to win any ATP tournaments thus far in his young career. The closest he came was in the beginning of the year, losing to Roberto Bautista Agut in the final of Chennai.
