Though she never enjoyed that level of major success again, the former No. 1 collected 15 WTA titles during her 13-year career, finishing nine seasons ranked inside the Top 20.

The 29-year-old emotionally thanked her fans and family for all of the support. Her husband Bastian Schweinsteiger couldn't attend the ceremony, but was thinking of his wife.

Ivanovic undoubtedly enjoyed her greatest Grand Slam success in Paris, also reaching the 2015 semifinals.

She, and her fans, couldn't think of a more fitting place for her to close the final chapter on her career.
