On Thursday at Roland Garros, Jelena Ostapenko accomplished a lot of firsts on her 20th birthday. She beat fellow birthday girl Timea Bacsinszky, 7-6 (4), 3-6, 6-3 to reach her first major final.

She's the first Latvian player to ever reach a Grand Slam final, and will be the first unseeded player in the Open Era to contest a Grand Slam final. Ranked No. 47, she has also pulled off this first:

If she wins, it'll be her first WTA title. The last player to win their first title at Roland Garros was Gustavo Kuerten in 1997.

Ostapenko is guaranteed to rise inside the Top 20 on Monday for, of course, the first time.

"I'm already in the final..." she said. "I'm just going to go there and enjoy the match and try to show my best... It's really nice the way I played today here, especially I won. So it's great to celebrate my birthday this way."

Ostapenko faces 2014 finalist Simona Halep in the title match.
