Nicolas Almagro and Juan Martin del Potro stole headlines on Day 4 of the French Open. Both looked to be struggling physically when they split sets, but it was Almagro who went down, retiring with a knee injury.

Del Potro came to the 31-year-old Spaniard's aid, much like Rafael Nadal did in Rome two weeks ago.

Almagro's knee held up for his first-round win in Paris, but reduced him to tears on Thursday.

"He was in agony. It was tough," Del Potro said. "I told him that tennis is important, but health matters more than tennis in this case."

The world took notice of their emotional moments on court:

Del Potro, who had to consult the trainer after winning the first set, will need his full health when he takes on Andy Murray next. The two have a budding rivalry with Murray winning the gold-medal match in Rio last year and Del Potro getting revenge in a pivotal Davis Cup semifinal marathon.
