In an opening round surprise, top-ranked Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga lost to unseeded Renzo Olivo after two days of battle. On Wednesday, Tsonga couldn't complete the comeback, losing 7-5, 6-4, 6-7 (6), 6-4.

The Argentine earned three match points on Tsonga’s serve after failing to serve out the match on Tuesday, but it looked like the Frenchman would escape once again when he brought it back to deuce. Tsonga could not hang on, though, falling just a few minutes into their resumption of play.

The hometown favorite had not lost in the first round of a major since the 2007 Australian Open, and only lost in his Roland Garros opener once, way back in 2005. That was his first appearance in a Grand Slam main draw when he was just 20 years old.

Perhaps the biggest question is: Who is the 25-year-old Olivo who surprised Tsonga and the world?
